Butter Spreads to Landmark

In what can only be described as a Christmas miracle, for the first time, Hong Kong’s beloved American cake shop from Black Sheep Restaurants, Butter, will have a brick and mortar diner-inspired space where guests can find joy by the slice.

Helmed by Chef Karys Logue, until now Butter has only lived online as a virtual cake shop of baked-to-order nostalgic delights. But now from December (through May 2021), nine of Butter’s most popular cakes and pies will be available by the slice from 10am, seven days a week at Landmark and just in time for the festive season.

Butter’s retro Americana offerings have always stemmed from founder Christopher Mark’s nostalgia for diners. As an 80’s kid, the diners he grew up in were already a little faded and past their heyday, but the waitresses still called you darlin’ and the desserts were comforting, delicious and unfussy. Nobody took pictures of their food so flavour was really what mattered and this is the ethos with which Chef Karys approaches everything at Butter. Classic American baking techniques, executed with a lot of love (and a lot of butter).

To launch, the pop-up will offer four pies (Apple, Cherry, Banana Cream and Tennessee Whiskey Caramel Pecan, all $80 per slice), four cakes (Triple Chocolate, Carrot, New York Cheesecake, and Pineapple Upside-down, all $90 per slice), plus a Root Beer Float ($70) and Strawberry Limeade ($50). Come mid-December the festive Red Velvet Candy Cane Cake will be available to bring an extra touch of holiday magic ($90 per slice).

When just a slice will not suffice, whole pies and cakes can be pre-ordered 48 hours in advance at the pop up store. Plus for last minute celebrations there will be a very limited supply of whole cakes and pies available on the day (strictly first come first served).
